WKLY for AI assistants

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant to your WKLY weekly budget and ask it questions about your money. The connection is read-only: the assistant can read your budget but can't add, change or delete anything.

What you need

  • A WKLY account with a verified email (free at weeklybudget.app or in the iPhone and Android apps).
  • An AI app that supports connectors (remote MCP servers), such as Claude or ChatGPT.

Connect

Connect to Claude
  1. Claude: use the button above (or find WKLY in Claude's Connectors directory), or go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and enter the address below. ChatGPT: find WKLY in the apps directory. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http wkly https://weeklybudget.app/api/mcp
  2. Server address: https://weeklybudget.app/api/mcp
  3. Sign in to WKLY when asked, check what the app will be able to read, and tap Approve.

You can see and disconnect connected apps any time in WKLY under My Profile → Connected AI Apps. Deleting your WKLY account disconnects all of them.

Things to ask

  • “Am I on track with my budget this week?”
  • “Which bills are due in the next two weeks, and are they fully funded?”
  • “Where did my grocery money go last month?”
  • “Which categories have gone over budget lately?”
  • “How much Available Income do I have, and how could I use it to pay down my loans faster?”
  • “How close am I to my savings goals?”

Tools

All tools are read-only. Amounts are in US dollars and match what you see in the WKLY app.

get_budget_overview
Your whole budget at a glance: this week's dates, the weekly plan (income minus bills, loans and savings), Available Income, overspending per section, savings progress and the Dashboard health checks.
list_budget_items
The items in one part of your budget - income, essential bills, discretionary spending, loans or savings goals - with amounts, next due dates and what is Available for each.
list_transactions
Your recorded transactions, newest first, filtered by date, category, type or text.
get_spending_by_category
How much you spent per category between two dates (returns subtracted).
get_upcoming_bills
Bills and loan payments due in the next days, with what is Available for each and whether it is fully funded.
get_over_budget_report
Every week a category ended over budget, like the Over Budget Table in My Reports.

Privacy and security

  • Nothing is shared until you sign in and approve. Access is read-only, and you can disconnect at any time.
  • The assistant never receives your password or bank sign-in details, and WKLY does not share your bank account details with it.
  • What the assistant reads is handled by the company that runs it, under its own privacy policy.
